Release 04/06/20 – Customer/Supplier Merge

Since the Supplier Masterfile was merged to Customer Masterfile, Expedient has revoked the function “Input Suppliers to Merge”. If users would like to merge a supplier/customer, you should use “Input Customer to Merge” function.

The function is available via Administration -> Merge Menu -> Input Customers To Merge

This is an existing function used to merge customers in Customer Masterfile. On this release, the function will be extended to merge suppliers in Customer Masterfile.

This process will run automatically overnight to merge the supplier into the other supplier or customer (i.e. Importer).

How does it work?

1. Click add on “Input Customers to Merge.

2. Enter “Merge to Code”.

  1. This is the code you would like to keep in the customer masterfile.

3. Set “Confirmed” as Yes.

  1. When set as “Yes”, the profile will be processed by system overnight to merge the customers.

4. Insert the “Customer Code” in the table.

  1. This is to enter the “Customer Code” you would like to merge into a new “Customer Code” in “Merge to Code” field.
  2. You are allowed to enter multiple codes.

Outcome

  1. After suppliers/customers are merged, the record you registered on “Input Customer to Merge” will be removed from the screen.
  2. The Customer Codes which have been merged will be removed from Customer Masterfile.
    1. All the previous registration (i.e. Job, Part, Supplier Invoice, Import Declaration etc.) using these codes will be applied with the new Customer Code.
  3. When a supplier is merged into an importer or supplier, the supplier/importer relationship will be merged into the new customer code.
    1. The customer will be flagged as “Supplier” in Company Type if it is a supplier is merged into a non-supplier i.e. importer.
    2. If a supplier is merged into another supplier and the supplier/customer relationship exists on the new customer code already, the current relationship in the new customs code will not be overridden by the merge process.
