In this release, we have added the ability to auto-calculate the Charge Weight and Volume of a Spot Quote and Booking. We have used industry standards to make these calculations. See below for full formulae details.
Volume field auto-calculation:
When all 3 dimensions are entered, the Volume field is auto-calculated with:
- Length x Width x Height
Charge Weight field auto-calculation:
When all 3 dimensions are entered, the Volume field is auto-calculated as above (LxWxH). This calculated Volume is used to calculate the Charge Weight in the following scenarios. NOTE: The auto-calculation of the Charge Weight field will only occur if all 3 dimensions are entered.
- When Unit = Metric (e.g. m3)
- Transport Mode = Air
- Multiply the Volume by 167
- Transport Mode = Sea and Transport Class = LCL
- Multiply the Volume by 1000
- Transport Mode = Parcel Post:
- Multiply the Volume by 200
- Transport Mode = Air
- When Unit = Imperial (e.g. ft3)
- Transport Mode = Air:
- Multiply Volume by 10.409
- Transport Mode = Sea and Transport Class = LCL:
- Divide Volume by 35.315
- Multiply this amount by 1000
- Multiply this amount by 2.205
- Transport Mode = Parcel Post:
- Divide Volume by 35.315
- Multiply this amount by 200
- Multiply this amount by 2.205
- Transport Mode = Air:
When all dimensions are entered, the system will automatically turn the Volume and Charge Weight fields into no-entry fields. This can easily be changed by selecting the ‘Edit?’ checkbox (ticked= editable fields).
When the Transport Mode/Class is not one of the above, entering all 3 dimensions will only auto-calculate the Volume field. Charge Weight will remain an editable field.
