Release 10/10/18 – Document Management – PDF Splitter/Merger

This release includes new Document Management tools in the Documents tabs in Import and Export Jobs and Consols.

PDF Splitter

The PDF Splitter button,  will allow multiple pages of a PDF document to be split into smaller documents and each section can be assigned a document type code.

To use the PDF Splitter

  1. Highlight the document in the Documents tab
  2. Click the PDF Splitter button
  3. In the PDF Splitter pop up window

  • Select the Target, i.e. is the document saved to the Job the original PDF is currently stored in, the Consol the job is linked to, saved to other jobs on the same Consol?
  • Select the Document Type Code to assign to the pages split from the original document
  • Enter the pages to be split from the original document

e.g. the original PDF document will be split into a Supplier Invoice to be saved to the Job, a Packing Declaration will be saved to the Client, and a Delivery Docket will be saved to the Consol.  The remaining pages of the original file are not assigned to a document code and will be saved to the job.

On OK, Expedient will create the segments and tick off any required documents at the target location.  Expedient will keep the original PDF document against the Job

Below, the Job screenshot shows the SIV saved to the Job, SIV ticked off as Received and the original UNA document still saved to the Job.  The remaining split section is listed as a new UNA document

The linked Consol has the DDO file, and will tick this off the Required Documents list if DDO is listed

PDF Merger

This tool allows multiple documents to be added into a single pdf document.  This tool may be helpful when forwarding many documents from Expedient.

The PDF Merger button,  will be available when more than one document is selected in the Documents tab.  Use the keyboard and mouse shortcuts, Ctrl plus left click mouse, or Alt plus left click mouse, to select multiple documents in the Documents tab

The selected documents will appear in the PDF Merger pop up window.  Use the Move up and Move down buttons to change the order the documents will appear in the new PDF file.

On OK, the Edit Document Properties window will appear.  Assign a new document filename and document type if required.  On save in this window the new PDF file will be created.

Expedient will retain the original documents to the job and show the new merged file in the Documents tab.
