This release allows Expedient to calculate the Storage Start Dates when Air and LCL cargo is checked in and available from a Bond Warehouse or Depot. Expedient can store the free storage time and opening hours for Bond Warehouses and Depots, and for specific clients that may have agreed extra free time.
For example, you can set up your Bond Warehouse with 24 hours free storage time. When Air Cargo is outturned and you are the forwarder the Storage Start Date/Time will be calculated and added to the Job to appear on Air Cargo Availability notifications and Delivery Dockets. If Air Cargo is outturned at 10:00 today and the Bond Warehouse is open from 08:00 to 18:00 daily, the calculated Storage Start Date/Time will be tomorrow at 18:00. If the client on the job has 48 free time Expedient will set the Storage Start Date/Time for the date after tomorrow at 18:00. A similar calculation is performed for LCL cargo on finalizing the outturn in the Sea Cargo Depot Unpacks screen.
If you do not charge your Brokerage clients for storage at your own Bond Warehouse or Depot, Expedient will leave the Storage Start Date/Time blank for these clients.
On printing the Warehouse Release, Expedient will warn users that the Storage Start Date/Time has passed.
In order to accurately calculate Storage Start Date/Time information the following steps are recommended
- Where your site is an OWN Depot add the Establishment ID to the Customer Masterfile for your Depot
- Where your site has OWN Bond Warehouses add the Air Cargo free storage time and Operating Days and Hours
- Where your site has OWN Depots add the LCL Free Storage Time and Operating Days and Hours
- Where you inform your clients of Storage Start Date/Time at other Bond Warehouses update the Customer Masterfiles for the Bond Warehouses with the Air Cargo free storage time and Operating Days and Hours
- Where you inform your clients of Storage Start Date/Time at other Depots update the Customer Masterfiles for the Depots with the Air Cargo free storage time and Operating Days and Hours
- Where you have clients with special Storage Terms at Bond Warehouses or Depots update the Customer Masterfile for the Client with the special terms for each Bond and Depot
Adding Storage Free Time information to Bond Warehouses
The Customer Masterfile has been updated to include additional fields in the Bond Warehouse tab.
Add the storage free time permitted by the Bond Warehouse. Where the Bond is OWN Bond select whether Brokerage clients are charged for storage.
Add the operating days and hours so that Expedient can calculate the Storage Start Date/Time from the Available Date. If no operating days and hours are entered Expedient will assume the Bond is open 24 hours daily.
Please note the Operating Hours text is the information that will print on the Delivery Docket
Add Storage Fee Time information for Depots
The Customer Masterfile has been updated to include additional fields in the Depot tab.
Add the storage free days permitted by the Depot. Where the Depot is OWN Depot select whether Brokerage clients are charged for storage.

Please note the Operating Hours text is the information that will print on the Delivery Docket
Adding special Free Storage terms for Importers
Where Importers have extended free storage terms with Bond Warehouses or Depots this information can be added in the Customer Masterfile, Importer tab.

a new tab will appear, Detention/Storage Terms
This tab shows special detention terms stored for the client for different shipping lines, and shows special storage terms with Bonded Warehouses and Depots. If a client has special terms with a specific Bond or Depot, Expedient will use the client’s terms to calculate the Storage Start Date/Time rather than the free time stored for the Bond or Depot.
