Release 01/07/15 – AU Customs – Tariff Advice Register

Tariff Advice Register

A Tariff Advice Application is sent to Customs by the Importer to seek an advance ruling on the classification of specific goods, which are being imported.

Once the Application is received from Customs, the details can then be inputted into the Tariff Advice Register.

The Tariff Advice is valid for 5years from the Decision Date. The Expired Date field is automatically updated with this information when the Decision Date field is populated.

A scheduled cron job is run nightly to update any expired records that are past the current date, from the Status ‘Valid’ to ‘Expired’.

Please see below screenshot for your reference.

Please refer to the Customs User Guide for more information regarding the conditions of each field.

If a Tariff Advice exists, then it will show the following highlighted message at the foot of the Parts Masterfile.

If there is no Tariff Advice then nothing will be shown.
