Release 130320 – AU/NZ Container Management – Detention Calculations

This release provides the ability to store import container Detention Terms for specific customers and Shipping Lines allowing the Detention Start date to be accurately calculated and reported on in the Container Management module.

Expedient will now calculate the Detention Start date by checking if there are any agreed Detention Terms between the Client and the Shipping Line, then if there are any terms for the specific Shipping Line regardless of the Client, and finally the system will calculate using the default number of free days.

The calculation workflow is shown below:

If your Client has agreed special Detention Terms with Shipping Lines you can now store the terms in the Customer Masterfile. A new table has been added to the Import tab which stores the Shipping Line, the number of free days, the container type and the date the Shipping Line uses to start the count of free days.

General Detention Terms for each Shipping Line are stored and maintained in a new screen accessed from the Container Management System folder, Detention Set Up.

This screen allows the number of free days, the container type and the Detention Start Date to be entered for specific Shipping Lines. These Detention Terms will be used to determine the Detention Start Date for sea import jobs where the Shipping Line is listed, provided the Client for the job does not have their own terms with the Shipping Line.

This screen also displays the default number of days that will be used for all Shipping Lines. This will be set to 7 days for Australia and New Zealand on release of this update. This number can be updated at any time in this screen.

The Detention Terms for each Shipping Line can also be viewed and updated in the Customer Masterfile for the Shipping Line within the new Shipping Line tab

This tab can also be used to store the SCAC code for the Shipping Line. This is useful for sites that are receiving jobs by EDI and want to add the correct Shipping Line automatically.

A Shipping Company field has been added to the Import Sea Job Registration screen.

This field will default to show the Shipping Company for the Consol if the job is linked to a Consol. Otherwise the field can be updated in the Job.

Where sites are importing manifests received from Overseas Agents and Forwarders Expedient has been updated to extract the Shipping Line name from the manifest file.

Where sites are sending manifests to Brokers Expedient has been updated to include the Shipping Line in the file.

The Container Management screen has been updated to separate the Forwarder and Shipping Company name. The Shipping Company field is populated by the information from the Job.

Expedient will check the Client Code, the Shipping Line, the container type and the vessel arrival date or container available date to calculate the correct Detention Start Date.
