In this release, we have fixed the Global Updates screens to allow users to use update rates when Method = Percentage, without needing to add an additional linked account code line.
The following screens have been adjusted:
- Rates -> Tools -> Global Update – Customer Rates
- Rates -> Tools -> Global Update – Company Tariff Rates
- Rates -> Tools -> Global Update – Cost Tariff
For example:
If you want to update FS (Fuel Surcharge) rates, but only when its Method = Percentage, previously you could only update this if you were also updating the Rate that this line would be based on (percentage lines are based on a different line, eg. fuel costs might be based on transport distance).
Now, users can simply add the FS (Percentage) line to the Global Update screens and the system will only update this line.

For the following scenarios, we will be referring to a rate that has the Method=Percentage as ‘ % ‘ and the Acc Code that this rate must be linked to as the ‘linked’ line.
Scenario 1: User wants to use global update when the customer rates screen has both a Method= % line and a linked account code line:
When a user enters a new line in the Global Update screen for a line with Method=%, they will simply enter the Acc Code field here, not have to enter an additional line for it.
==The system will search for existing rates and if it finds a rate where there both the % and linked lines in a rate, it will use the linked line in the Customer Rates screen to base the Global Update’s % rate change.
Scenario 2: User wants to use global update screen when the customer rates screen has ONLY % line and NOT a linked line
There will be no update or change to this rate, as there is no existing rate with both a & and linked line in it.
Scenario 3: User wants to use global update when the customer rates screen has ONLY a linked line but NO % line
The percentage line will be added from the global rates screen (As long as its still valid).
Scenario 4: User wants to use global update when the customer rates screen has both an % and a linked line, but the Customer Rates screen % line is not Method=Percentage (it has a different method for this code)
The system will search for existing rates, it will use the linked line in the Customer Rates screen to base the Global Update’s % rate change.
It will change any rates found for %code to the new Method=Percentage.
Scenario 5: User wants to use global update when the Customer Rates screen has both an % and a linked line, but there is an addition line linked line on the Global update screen (which line should the % base off? The one in the Global Updates screen or the one in the Customer Rates screen)
Use the linked line in the Global Update (this is newer).
