This release we have removed the preview of the new screens controlling how users can access and make changes in screens, reports and posting processes
The new security screens will be available under Administration -> User Permissions folders and once your site has migrated to the new Menu structure.
These screens replace the ‘Security Access Maintenance’ option in screens, and the Security Access options in Administration -> Company Details Menu -> Users Masterfile
The new screens are
User Level Permissions – maintains permissions to screens and reports for each user. If you are a Super User, you can view all users permissions.
In this release, the screen will display the current permissions already set for users and shows the Menu View they should expect
e.g. User level permissions to Customs Processing screens
Group Level Permissions – This screen allows quick and easy update of permissions for multiple users working in the same area of Expedient. Groups can be created, with permissions set for screens, reports and posting functions for the group, and users can be assigned to the group. Users will immediately be assigned the groups permissions on saving any changes.
e.g. Group level permissions to Customs Processing screens
Security Control – this screen maintains permissions at site level and provides an overview of group level and user level permissions. Within this screen, it is easy to view and maintain which groups and which users have permissions in a selected screen, report or posting function
e.g. Security Control screen – User level permissions for Customer Masterfile
e.g.Security Control screen – Group level permissions for Customer Masterfile
In all three screens, on clicking UPDATE, grant and revoke buttons will appear to change the permissions for View, Add, Update and Delete
E.g. in the Security Control screen, for System Level Permissions, click UPDATE and select from the list in left hand window. In the example below, Grant Update has been applied to the Suppliers Masterfile, which means all users can now Update (shown in the right hand side), and the button to change Update permissions has been reset to Revoke Update permissions

The Permissions History toolbar button appears in all three screens and will show a list of the actions taken at each level. E.g. select a user name on the right hand side of the Security Control screen and click Permissions History to see what changes were applied to the user
Permissions History screen indicates what was changed and at which level. If there is an access group in the column, the permission was changed for that group, and the change was applied to this user as they are in the group.
The view of the permissions in each screen can be expanded further to show which level the permission is granted at.
E.g. the screen below shows that user Clark Kent has permission to View and Update the Supplier Masterfile because the System level default setting is to allow View and Update in this screen to all users. He can also Add in the screen because he belongs to a Group which has Add permission, and he can also Delete in the screen because he has been given specific permission to Delete.
The Administration User Manual will contain more information on permission inheritance rules before these screens are activated.
Upon Activation of the new Security upgrades, all existing users will have their security rights migrated to the new structure.
